Read a short note from Dr. David Wang on International Epilepsy Day:
International Epilepsy Day is held annually to promote awareness of epilepsy and its symptoms. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) around 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy, making it one of the most common neurological diseases globally.1 Every year on the second Monday of February, people join together to acknowledge and highlight the challenges faced by people with epilepsy, their families and carers.
The main objective for International Epilepsy Day is to raise awareness of the disease at the international and government levels as well as among the general public. We can help strengthen the epilepsy movement by uniting epilepsy associations in a worldwide campaign. The day is an opportunity for people across the globe to join and speak with one voice.
